Description: Design and fabrication of bespoke CNC perforated sheets | CNC folding of sheets
METALSO designed and fabricated this custom-made cladding for an exterior application. The location by the seaside required a special treatment of the metal sheets. The design received the 2016 Surface Design Award, an international design award.

2014 | Hotel | Porto Heli, Athens

METALSO provided the construction of a multi-story hotel building in
Porto Heli near Athens with custom-fabricated perforated steel sheets, used as facade cladding components.
The pieces were custom folded to the profile of the balcony.

2009 | Tellogleio Museum | Thessaloniki
Description: CNC cutting and perforating of bespoke aluminium sheet components
The museum hosted an exhibition on the artist Juan Miro and a model at scale 1:2 of his studio was constructed. METALSO provided the exterior envelope of the entire structure made from CNC cut and textured aluminium sheets. A CAD/CAM digital environment from design through fabrication ensured precision and speed.

2007 | White Tower Museum | Thessaloniki
Description: CNC cutting of bespoke perforated stainless steel componentsThe museum, hosted in the city's emblematic White Tower monument, hosts
an interactive exhibition on the cultutre and history of Thessaloniki. The
stainless steel components manufactured by METALSO include panels for audiovisual
display and a large auditorium with seating. The bespoke perforations had
to comply to specific acoustic performance specifications.

2008 | Synathroisis Exhibition installation

Description: Technical consultancy | CNC cutting of bespoke steel components
This exhibition presented the work of international experimental architects
exploring digital design and fabrication technologies. The installation
followed a similar spirit, making use of digital design tools and fabricated
in a seamless digital design-to-production workflow. The steel sheets where
free-form bent in order to find their own structural stability and thus
a steel support structure was redundant.

Description: Design and fabrication | CNC cutting of bespoke steel components | CNC bending of steel cladding element
METALSO designed and fabricated this unique interior design component by cutting and folding steel sheets. The sheets were folded to find structural stability and result in an overall light-weight decorative component without a support structure. The design resembles a fabric draped over the fireplace. The folding process involved unique non-parallel bends, which result in stunning light-and-shadow effects, using the capabilities of cutting-edge CNC machninery.
